Data backup

Export a complete backup and preview the data to merge into the current workspace.

Choose backup, CSV, or restore points

A full .backup includes business database and images; CSV serves spreadsheets/reports; local restore points are periodic copies on this device. Backup import merges into the existing workspace, not an overwrite rollback. Importing an older copy will not automatically undo bulk mistakes.

  1. Review stored data

Open Settings → Data management for data size, image count, last backup, and restore-point status.

    Review stored data
  2. Choose by purpose

Use full backup for migration or complete preservation, and history/product exports for spreadsheet analysis.

  3. Choose an off-device destination

Keep a full copy in your own file storage/cloud drive off-device. An app-local file cannot protect against uninstalling or device failure.

Tips

  • iCloud automatic sync is unavailable. Imports are not separated by author; they share one workspace.

Export and verify a full backup

Export packages the database and images, then opens system sharing. Finish saving in that sheet. Use dates and purposes in filenames to distinguish before/after-event and migration copies.

  1. Start export

Choose Export full backup and wait for progress to finish and the system save/share sheet to open.

    Start export
  2. Save to a destination

Choose Save to Files or your storage service and give it a dated name. System-sheet language follows the device; the screenshot's Save to Files is the save action.

  3. Check the saved copy

Open the destination and verify .backup extension, date, and nonzero size. Keep a second copy for long-term preservation.

Tips

  • Opening sharing is not cloud upload completion. A report ZIP is not a full backup.

Preview, select, and merge an import

Export the current state first. The import preview shows products, families, bundles, events, duplicate names, and dependencies. Same-name items remain separate; stock does not merge by name. Multiple author backups join the same workspace.

  1. Choose the backup file

Choose Import full backup and select .backup. Wait for the inventory import preview; no workspace writes have occurred yet.

    Choose the backup file
  2. Inspect all tabs

Review products, families, bundles, and events, open details, and use the same-name filter for existing items.

  3. Select the import scope

Select all, clear, or include/skip individual items. Add missing dependencies and review any quantity reductions from plan limits.

  4. Choose whether to restore settings

Check Restore app settings and profile. Leave it off to preserve this device's language, payments, display, and profile; turn it on to use backup settings.

  5. Confirm and inspect results

Confirm import, wait, and inspect products, variants, bundles, events, and orders. If restoring settings, check payment codes and profile too. Selected data merges and duplicates are saved separately.

Tips

  • Do not reimport to fix display refresh or expect automatic rollback.

Automatic local restore points

Points are created periodically while using GoodsBar; missed runs occur on next use, not guaranteed while closed. At most five recent points remain on this device. Automatic points require subscription; other backup/history access follows the plan screen.

  1. Enable automatic backup

Enable local automatic backup and choose daily, weekly, or monthly. Check the displayed interval.

    Enable automatic backup
  2. Read backup records

Open backup/restore-point history and compare time, size, and type to distinguish exported backups from local points.

  3. Share an important copy

Open a record and share its file off-device. To use it, follow the ordinary import-preview flow.

  4. Delete an unneeded file

Verify the filename before deleting a record's file. Keep important before/after-event versions. This deletes only the backup file, not live business data.

Tips

  • Uninstalling may remove local points. Automatic backup is not iCloud synchronization.

Archive, recycle bin, and history protection

Archive temporarily unused items; recover mistakes in the recycle bin. Order-referenced data can be protected for history. Archives remain indefinitely; the recycle bin normally keeps seven days. Referenced catalog items then move to history protection, while unreferenced ones are permanently removed.

  1. Open recovery tools

Open Data management → Archive and recycle bin, then switch archive, history protection, or recycle bin.

  2. Filter and restore

Filter products, families, bundles, events, or orders, select the item, and restore it. Orders regain visibility without changing stock again.

  3. Process multiple items

Use multiselect/all and available batch actions. History-protected items support restoration only; other actions skip them.

  4. Recognize permanent deletion

Use permanent deletion only for eligible items you no longer need and review confirmation. Protected order records cannot be removed this way. Permanently deleted items cannot be recovered from the bin.

Tips

  • Restoring a family restores its SKUs. Clear all data is not a normal recovery step.
