Product scanning
Use automatically generated product codes with an external scanner or camera to add items to the cart.

Find the automatic product code
Saving a product creates its primary code; no manual SKU table is required. Barcode and QR can identify the same product. Each style has its own identity. Add it to the event with available stock before scanning.
Open label identity
Open product details and find label identity. If a new item says the code is generated after saving, save it first.
Open label identity Choose the printed code format
Barcode/QR describes forms of the same identity; set the printed format in your label template. Configure a default label printer/template and print one label.
Check the event catalog
Verify the product or its variant family is in the event, listed for sale, and has enough actual availability.
Tips
- The CSV template does not require manually entered codes. Product QR codes are not payment codes.
Connect an HID scanner
The scanner inputs codes like a keyboard. Pair in system Bluetooth settings or connect by USB; GoodsBar neither discovers scanners nor shows their Bluetooth status. Its external-scanner entry explains capability/plan access and has no independent switch.
Select keyboard mode
Follow the scanner manual to select HID/keyboard mode, then pair via iPad Bluetooth or the appropriate USB adapter.
Check terminator and layout
Set terminator and keyboard layout as instructed. Scan into a plain text field to check complete, uncorrupted characters, then leave that field.
Check feature access
In event checkout preferences, inspect external barcode-scanner access. Check your plan if locked; do not search for a scanner switch.
Test in product details
Start label testing for the product, wait for the scan prompt, and scan its label. Check the match and close testing. The screenshot is waiting only; actual matching requires connected hardware.
Test in product details
Tips
- Do not pair in the printer list or scan while editing an unrelated text field.
Scan into POS and troubleshoot
A complete code adds an item in normal POS selection. Repeating it increases quantity subject to stock and limits. Payment, dialogs, or label testing can take over input; return to normal selection before testing.
Scan one product
Scan a label in normal POS and check the product/style and one-unit increase in the cart.
Verify repeated scans
Scan again to check quantity, then another style to check a separate line. Clear the practice cart afterward.
Investigate missing codes
Check event membership, visibility, sold-out state, restrictions, and code content from product details before merely reconnecting Bluetooth.
Restore normal input
Close label testing, payment, and edit dialogs; verify system HID connection and retry a known-good label in POS.
Tips
- Check cart quantity before rescanning an uncertain result to avoid unwanted extra units.
Use the camera scanner
Camera scanning is independent of external hardware and uses the device camera. A valid recognition closes the scanner and returns to POS. Test on a physical device; the simulator has no real camera feed.
Enable the camera action
Enable camera product scanning in this event's preferences and save. The camera button appears beside items-per-row controls.
Enable the camera action Open the camera
Tap scan, allow permission, choose front/back camera if needed, and put the code clearly in the center frame.
Check the recognized item
After returning to the cart, check item and quantity. Out-of-event or unavailable items show corresponding messages; recognition attempts to add the item, not bypass stock checks.
Close scanning
Close when finished. Tapping outside the tablet dialog may require confirmation; backgrounding also closes the camera.
Tips
- Use product labels, not payment QR codes, and check the cart after each scan.
